Looks like Tavarish is really putting his money where his mouth is with the whole, “You should buy a 20 year old AMG for the cost of a raincoat from Goodwill” thing.

Credit where it’s due, he does exactly what he tells others to do. If I had his automotive skills I’d be all over some of the cars he’s recommended over the years. Still wish I had had a way to purchase his gorgeous 3000gt Vr4...

I always feel like I’m in the small group of people who don’t really like Tavarish, DeMuro or Chris Harris... Not that they’re in the same group of journalists but...they just....annoy me... small rant over.

You’re not alone.
A lot of their schtick isn’t possible for people who aren’t fulltime vloggers/bloggers.

It’s not so much that as.... I don’t give a fiddler’s fuck about what they care about cars. DeMuro and Tavarish sound like they literally have seen a car for the first time in their life and Harris is just boring...

2/3 for me. I like Harris. Tavarish strikes me as an overzealous and talentless. DeMuro strikes me as a boring middle manager, cookie cutter life, would be cubicle dweller if he couldn’t market himself and make up a few one liners here and there.

You nailed Tav and DeMuro on point.

I mean, there are many examples of him turning a decent looking car with many mechanical issues into a gorgeous 8/10 or 9/10 that runs flawlessly. Most of this being on cars that others consider very unreliable comparatively... An Aston, many modern Mercedes’, multiple notoriously difficult to work with 90's Japanese Flagships... And anyone who can do clean engine swaps on their own has automotive skills. Nuff said.
As a professional AMG tech I would imagine you miiiiiiiight be just a bit more skilled than the average enthusiast haha

Seriously... who can watch Tavarish go on for 56 minutes about every single button, switch, nut, screw and bolt on this thing?

DeMuro and Tavares’s? No way. Harris? He’s amazing. I haven’t watched top gear lately (bee to busy to devote an hour of my time to a TV show. Is Harris the same on the show?

He has some very bad habits and hackalicious tendencies. Flawlessly? I won’t take his word for it. Clean swaps? People talk big game, but if I looked his stuff over I could probably going your entire savings account worth of problems in less than five minutes. His videos are painful to watch because the whole time I’m thinking “No! Don’t do that! Has this guy ever held a wrench before? Or thought through the whole job before starting?”

I think that might be part of DeMuro’s appeal though since most of us are boring middle manager, cookie cutter, cubicle dwellers.
Also, if it was easy to come up with those one liners and to market yourself like that, more people would probably be doing it.

Fair point. And it might sound like it, but I’m not judging. That just isn’t for me.
